All officers of the city, pursuant to sections 7-32-4301, Montana Code Annotated, shall have the authority to make arrests of persons charged with crime within the limits of the city, within five (5) miles thereof and along the lines of water supply of the city. This provision shall not supersede the arrest authority of police officers provided for in any state statute or other city ordinance, rather this provision shall only add to the authority of police officers under such statutes or ordinances. Furthermore, this provision shall not be construed to require or obligate the police force of the city to patrol or otherwise provide service to the area within five (5) miles of the city limits.
