(A) The members of the police department on the active list at the time of their appointment under this chapter may not be less than eighteen (18) years of age or more than thirty five (35) years of age, but this restriction does not apply to any member of any police department as of July 2, 1973, to honorably discharged persons who served in the armed forces of the United States in time of war, providing such time of service is not less than three (3) months, or to applicants for reinstatement under state law.
(B) A police officer must be a citizen of the United States and meet the minimum qualifying standards for employment promulgated by the board of crime control for the state of Montana. (Ord. 1582, 5-7-1990)
