In addition or in connection with the other duties and responsibilities provided for in title 7, chapter 16, part 42, Montana Code Annotated, the board shall have the additional responsibilities to develop a list of trees suitable for planting as well as study, investigate, counsel, and develop written plans for the care, preservation, trimming, planting, replanting, and removal of trees and shrubs located in the public ways, streets, and alleys.
