6-2-27: OWNER PROMISE TO APPEAR:
Whenever there is a violation of this chapter, in addition to any other remedy provided by law and instead of impounding the animal, the animal control officer may, in his/her discretion, obtain the person's promise to appear as specified in a written notice to be prepared by the animal control officer. The notice shall be in duplicate on forms provided and shall contain the name and address of the owner or controller of the animal, a description of the animal or animals, the animal's license number, if known, the date and location of the violation, the offense charged and shall require the person receiving the notice to answer the charge during the hours and at a place specified in the notice. If any dispute exists as to the ownership of the animal for the purpose of this section, the person who has registered the animal shall be deemed the owner thereof. (Ord. 1676, 3-6-2000)
