It shall be unlawful for any person to own, keep or harbor any animal within the city which has not received a valid, current vaccination against rabies. Evidence of such vaccination shall be available to any animal warden, police officer or health department employee upon their request, and shall be presented to the city whenever an animal is registered. Evidence of the vaccination shall be a certificate issued by a veterinarian licensed by the state of Montana to practice veterinary services in Montana. No animal shall be released from the pound without the owner or buyer having presented proof of rabies vaccination, or a receipt for a vaccination inoculation from a veterinarian.
