(a) No person shall knowingly or intentionally possess a controlled substance unless the substance was obtained directly from, or pursuant to, a valid prescription or order of a practitioner while acting in the course of his professional practice.
(b) Any person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) or more than one thousand dollars ($1,000).
