6-2-5: PARKING PROHIBITED AT CERTAIN PLACES:
The operator of any vehicle shall not stop, stand or park a vehicle in any of the following places, except when necessary in an emergency to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with directions of a police officer, authorized personnel, or official traffic sign or signal, or city ordinance. For the purpose of this section, "official signs" shall mean all signs, markings and devices which conform with the state manual and not inconsistent with city ordinances, placed or erected by authority of the city for the purpose of regulating, warning and controlling parking. Violations may be charged as specified in section 6-2-8 of this chapter.
   A.   Within an intersection.
   B.   Upon a crosswalk.
   C.   Upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a highway or within a highway tunnel.
   D.   Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within thirty feet (30') of a point of the curb immediately opposite the end of a safety zone.
   E.   Within thirty feet (30') of a traffic signal, beacon or sign on the approaching side.
   F.   Within twenty feet (20') of any intersection or crosswalk.
   G.   Within fifteen feet (15') of a fire hydrant.
   H.   Within fifty feet (50') of the nearest rail of a railroad grade crossing.
   I.   Within twenty feet (20') of the driveway entrance to any fire department station and on the side of the street opposite the entrance to any such station, within seventy five feet (75') of such entrance, when properly signposted.
   J.   On a sidewalk or parkway.
   K.   On any properly designated and marked fire or emergency lane.
   L.   On any public street or portion thereof at any time when such street is being cleaned and which has been posted as such.
   M.   In any posted curb loading zone.
   N.   In any public alley, except for the purpose of loading or unloading merchandise; provided that the flow of traffic in the alley may not be blocked nor the vehicle left unattended.
   O.   In any bus stop; provided that vehicles other than buses may drive to the curb at a bus stop for the purpose of receiving or discharging passengers.
   P.   In any traffic lane; provided that a vehicle may be stopped briefly within a traffic lane for the purpose of receiving or discharging passengers.
   Q.   On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge or curb of a street.
   R.   On any snow emergency route during a state of emergency as declared by the city.
   S.   On any street adjacent to school property or playgrounds when official signs are erected.
   T.   On any property owned by the city and used for the transaction of public business when official signs are erected; provided, however, this prohibition shall not apply to city owned vehicles operating in an emergency or with prior approval from the city.
   U.   In front of a public or private driveway except briefly to pick up or discharge passengers.
   V.   Alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when stopping, standing or parking would obstruct traffic.
   W.   On any railroad tracks. A violation of any part of this subsection shall result in a mandatory fine of five hundred dollars ($500.00) or fifty (50) hours of community service.
   X.   On any controlled access highway.
   Y.   In the area between roadways of a divided highway, including crossovers.
