No person shall drive or operate any vehicle used for the transportation of goods or property, the gross weight of which, with load, exceeds five tons, upon the streets, bridges and culverts within this municipality where signs are posted prohibiting such use. Drivers of such vehicles whose gross weight, with load, exceeds weight limits prescribed by this chapter may deliver or pick up goods or property at those places located on prohibited streets provided such vehicles are operated to effect the least amount of travel possible on such prohibited streets.
