§ 1301.17 INSPECTION.
   (A)   General. Before issuing a permit for the construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, removal, demolition, or change of use of any building, structure, or site, the Building Official or his or her representative may examine or cause to be examined any or all such buildings, structures, and site in connection with which an application has been filed for such a permit. He or she shall conduct or cause to be conducted such inspections from time to time during, and upon completion of, the work for which he or she issues such permits as he or she may deem necessary to determine that the work is in accordance with the requirements of this code and the approved drawings and specifications; and he or she shall maintain a record of all such examinations and inspections and of all violations of the code.
   (B)   Notice. It shall be the responsibility of the holder of a permit to notify the Building Official or his or her representative when work is ready for the various inspections required by the terms of the permit or the approved rules. Such notice shall be given within a reasonable time within which such inspection is desired, but in no event shall be less than 24 hours. Notice given on a Friday or on a day prior to a legal holiday shall not constitute notice for inspection on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday unless arrangements have been made under approved rules for inspection on such days.
   (C)   Action on notice. Upon receipt of notice that work is ready for inspection the Building Official or his or her representative shall inspect or cause it to be inspected as soon as reasonably practicable, however, failure of the Building Official or his or her representative to make a prompt inspection shall not be deemed justification for covering work without inspection when such work is required under the terms of the permit to be inspected before being covered. If the Official does not make the requested inspection or contact the applicant within 24 hours after an inspection is requested, then the work may proceed. Failure to perform an inspection shall in no way relieve an applicant from performing all work in accordance with this code and the terms of any permit issued.
   (D)   Inspection by others. The Building Official or his or her representative at his or her discretion may accept in lieu of inspection by himself, herself or his or her inspectors a certificate or report of inspection for any part or parts of the work made by any architect, engineer, board or bureau recognized by him or her as authority in such part or parts of the work providing, such certificate or report shall show that the part or parts of the work conform to the requirements of this code and all other laws and ordinances relating to the same subject matter.
