The houses and buildings within the corporate limits of the city shall be numbered as follows:
Beginning on Main Street at the intersection of Meridian Street and numbering from thence east and west the houses and buildings fronting north or south giving 20 feet for each whole number and numbering alternately on either side of the street, making the numbers on the south side of each street odd and the numbers on the north side of each street even, and giving 100 numbers for each block, and the houses and buildings on all streets running parallel with Main Street shall be numbered in the same manner east and west from Meridian Street; beginning on Meridian Street at the intersection of Main Street and numbering from thence north and south the houses and buildings fronting east or west, giving 20 feet for each whole number, numbering alternately on either side of the street, making the numbers on the west side of the street even and the numbers on the east side of the street odd, and giving 100 numbers to each block and the houses and buildings on all streets running parallel with Meridian Street shall be numbered in the same manner north and south from Main Street.
