§ 71.49 DUTY OF MOTORIST TO SLOW OR STOP IN OBEDIENCE TO AMBER OR RED SIGNAL OF SCHOOL BUS.
   The operator of a motor vehicle on a two-lane street or highway meeting or overtaking a school bus on which the amber warning lights are flashing shall reduce the speed of his/her vehicle to not more than 20 miles per hour and proceed past the school bus with caution. The operator of a motor vehicle when he/she meets or overtakes a school bus on which the red signal lights are flashing shall bring his/her vehicle to a complete stop not closer than 15 feet from the school bus and shall remain stopped until the flashing red signal lights are extinguished. The operator of a motor vehicle on a street or highway providing two or more lanes in each direction need not stop when he/she meets a school bus which is traveling in the opposite direction even though the school bus is stopped and its red signal lights flashing. The operator of a motor vehicle on a street or highway providing two or more lanes in each direction shall stop when he overtakes a school bus traveling in the same direction when the school bus is stopped and its red signal lights are flashing.
