The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway, lot or building into a street shall stop the vehicle immediately prior to driving onto the sidewalk or onto the sidewalk area extending across any alleyway or driveway, yielding the right-of-way to any pedestrians as may be necessary to avoid a collision, and, upon entering the roadway of the street, shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching in either direction on the roadway.
