§ 3-1-2-21. OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES; VOLUNTEER AND PAID.
   (A)   Officers and other employees of the Police Department may be reserve or volunteer or paid members, as shall be authorized from time to time by the Board of Public Works and Safety, subject to relevant ordinances adopted by the Common Council, including the establishment of a merit system for the full-time, paid members of the Department.
   (B)   Volunteer or reserve officers may not receive more than the nominal compensation prescribed by I.C. 36-8-12-2, nor may any volunteer or reserve officer or other civilian employee of the Police Department participate in any pension fund intended specifically for police officers.
   (C)   Full-time civilian employees of the Police Department shall participate in the Public Employees Retirement Fund, as prescribed in § 1-2-5-13 of this code.
