8-8-3-2: LANDSCAPE STANDARDS:
   A.   For all new residential construction or development, landscaping shall meet the following requirements:
      1.   Single-Family Dwellings.
         a.   The total grass area shall not exceed the following:

         b.   Multi-family developments with less than 6 dwelling units shall be allowed 600 square feet of lawn.
         c.   Multi-family developments with more than 6 dwelling units shall be allowed 100 square feet per of lawn per dwelling unit.
         d.   lawn is prohibited in park strips, in landscape areas less than eight feet wide, and on any slope that exceeds 15%; and
         e.   Lawns must be accessible for active use and may not be in streetscape frontages, parking lots, roundabouts, medians, driveways and other areas not conducive to access and safe use. Lawns may not be within 10 feet of a roadway.
         f.   Certain special purpose landscape areas (e.g., stormwater management areas, cemeteries, etc.) may receive exceptions from the slope or lawn allowances and other elements of the Landscaping Requirements. Exceptions shall be considered by the municipality on a case-by-case basis.
         g.   Each single-family dwelling shall have a minimum of two water-efficient shade trees with a minimum one-and-one-half-inch (1½”) caliper trunk. Each multiple-family development with ten units or less shall follow city approved landscape planting plans for number of shade trees.
      2.   Multiple-Family Dwelling Projects with More than Ten Units: Comply with the Landscape Standards in 8-8-4-2 , below.
   B.   The Plant List, as defined in Section 8-8-2 , shall be consulted in determining appropriate, adaptable and environmentally sustainable trees, shrubs, and other plants to be planted and maintained. (Ord. 2022-08, 9-7-2022; amd. Ord. 2023-14, 12-6-2023)
