The Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief together with the members of the Fire Department shall be appointed by the Mayor, by and with the consent of the City Council. The 4 Fire Fighter Engineers presently employed shall be retained. Prospectively the hiring of a paid on call firefighter shall be on the appointment of the Mayor with the additional joint approval of the Fire Chief and the Chairman of the Fire and ESDA of the City of LaSalle. When there is a vacancy in the Department for Fire Fighter Engineers, the vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the Board of the Fire and Police Commissioners of the city, it being the intention that all new fire truck drivers shall be appointed by the Board of the Fire and Police Commissioners.
