(A) Upon declaration by the Board of Commissioners and proper posting of “Frost Laws” signs by the County Highway Department, the following restrictions shall be in effect:
(1) Four-wheel vehicles having a total gross weight with load are restricted to 8,000 pounds;
(2) Six-wheel vehicles having a total gross weight with load are restricted to 15,000 pounds;
(3) Eight-wheel vehicles having a total gross weight with load are restricted to 30,000 pounds; and
(4) Ten-wheel vehicles having a total gross weight with load are restricted to 40,000 pounds.
(B) Exceptions may be made upon a written permit being first obtained from the County Highway Supervisor.
(C) Permits; exceptions.
(1) Overweight violations of § 71.01, this section or Chapter 74, Schedule I do not apply to farm vehicles loaded with a farm product; farm drainage machinery, implements of agriculture when used during farm operations or when construction so that implements can be moved without material damage to the highways and to firefighting apparatus owned and operated by any other political subdivision or volunteer fire department.
(2) Any person or individual who intends to use such county road in excessive weight restrictions or in excessive “Frost Law” restrictions may apply for a separate permit specifying roads to be used and times and limitations of use. Such permits shall approved by the LaPorte County Highway Department and be issued in the amount of $100 for duration of not more than 90 days.
