§ 90.185  DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   EXOTIC ANIMAL.  Species of animals that are exotic to humans. EXOTIC ANIMALS include, but are not limited to, any or all of the following orders and families, whether bred in the wild or in captivity, and any or all hybrids. The animals included herein are specific listings to include those denoted in parentheses and shall serve as examples and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list or limitation as to the generality of each group of animals, unless otherwise specified for the purpose of identification, this subchapter shall include:
      (1)   Class mammalia.
         (a)   Order Artiodactyla (hippopotamuses, giraffes, camels, deer, not cattle or swine or sheep or goats);
         (b)   Order Carnivora:
            1.   Family Felidae (lions, tigers, cougars, leopards, ocelots, servals, pumas, panthers, mountain lions, jaguars, margays, not domestic cats);
            2.   Family Canidae (wolves, coyotes, foxes, jackals, not domestic dogs);
            3.   Family Ursidae (all bears);
            4.    Family Mustelidae (weasels, skunks, martins, minks, martens, wolverines, badgers, otters, ermine, mongoose not ferrets);
            5.   Family Procyonidac (raccoons, civits, coatis);
            6.   Family Hyaenidae (hyenas); and
            7.   Family Viverridae (civets, genets, mongooses).
         (c)   Order Edentatia (anteaters, armadillos, sloths);
         (d)   Order Marsupialia (opossums, kangaroos, wallabies, not sugar gliders);
         (e)   Order Perissodactyla (rhinoceroses, tapirs, not horses or donkeys or mules);
         (f)   Order Primates (lemurs, monkeys, chimpanzees, gorillas);
         (g)   Order Proboscidae (elephants);
         (h)   Order Rodentia (squirrels, beavers, porcupines, prairie dogs, not guinea pigs, rats, mice, gerbils or hamsters);
         (i)   Order Raccoons (Procynniddae): all raccoons and civets; and
         (j)    Skunks.
      (2)   Class Reptilia; Order Squamata:
         (a)   Family Varanidae (only water monitors and crocodile monitors);
         (b)   Family Iguanaidae (only green iguanas and rock iguanas);
         (c)   Family Boidae (all species whose adult length has the potential to exceed eight feet in length);
         (d)    Family Colubridae (only boomslangs and African twig snakes);
         (e)   Family Elapidae (as corals snakes, cobras, mambas and the like): all species;
         (f)   Family Nactricidae (only keelback snakes); and
         (g)   Family Viperidae (as copperheads, cottonmouths, rattlesnakes and the like): all species.
      (3)   Order Crocodilia (as crocodiles, alligators, caimans, gavials and the like): all species.
   PERSON.  Any individual, partnership, corporation, organization, trade or professional association, firm, limited liability company, joint venture, association, trust, estate or any other legal entity, and any officer, member, shareholder, director, employee, agent or representative thereof.
   POSSESSOR.  Any person who owns, possesses, keeps, harbors, brings into the town limits and/or extraterritorial jurisdiction, has in one’s possession, acts as a custodian, or has custody or control of an exotic animal as contemplated herein.
