§ 51.117  INSPECTION; SAMPLING; ANALYSIS.
   (A)   Compliance determinations. Compliance determinations with respect to the prohibitions and limitations contained in § 51.091 may be made on the basis of either instantaneous grab samples or composite samples of waste water. Composite samples may be taken over a 24-hour period or over a longer or shorter time span, as determined necessary by the Director to meet the needs of specific circumstances.
   (B)   Standards for analysis of industrial waste waters. Laboratory analysis of industrial waste water samples shall be performed in accordance with the current edition of Standard Methods, Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and Waste, published by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, or the Annual Book of Standards, Part 23, Water, Atmospheric Analysis, published by the American Society for Testing Materials. Analysis of those pollutants not covered by these publications shall be performed in accordance with procedures established by the State Department of Natural Resources and Community Development.
   (C)   Sampling frequency. Sampling of industrial waste water for the purpose of compliance determination with respect to the prohibitions and limitations contained in § 51.091 will be done at the intervals as the Director may designate. However, it is the intention of the Director to conduct compliance sampling or to cause the sampling to be conducted for all major contributing industries at least once in every three months.
