Pursuant to the provisions of California Penal Code Section 836.5, designated public safety officers of the city of La Mirada are given authority to arrest which may be exercised solely in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. Each such designated public safety officer may exercise arrest authority in connection with a misdemeanor occurring in his or her presence which is a violation of a statute or ordinance which such officer has the duty to enforce. Only those public safety officers designated in writing by the city manager shall have the authority to arrest as provided in this chapter.
