§ 52.03  RESPONSIBILITIES OF UTILITY COMPANIES.
   (A)   It shall be the responsibility of the phone company after notice of its utility’s failure or breakdown to locate the same and initiate repair or other corrective measures.
   (B)   It shall be the responsibility of the power company after notice of its utility’s failure to locate the same and initiate repair or other corrective measures whenever the failure occurs on or within public streets, public ways, within parkway-utility easements, ordinary utility easements, and through the metering device attached to any building or structure.
   (C)   It shall be the responsibility of the gas company after notice of its utility’s failure or breakdown to locate the same and initiate repair or other corrective measures whenever the failure occurs on or within public streets, public ways, within parkway-utility easements and ordinary utility easements.  The gas utility company shall maintain all gas meters owned by the gas company.
   (D)   No utility company authorized herein to enter upon private property for the purpose of repairing, maintaining, or servicing of its pipes, conduits, or lines shall be guilty of a trespass in so doing.
   (E)   The same rights, privileges, and responsibilities herein described relative to repair and maintenance shall hold forth with regard to original or subsequent installation of utility services.
   (F)   The utility company may make the usual and customary charges for meter deposits or other original installation costs against the property owner involved from the point where its area of responsibility for repair and maintenance ends.
   (G)   When any utility company shall make or cause to be made excavations or shall place obstructions in any street, alley, public place or public way, or parkway-utility easement, the public shall be protected by barriers and lights placed, erected, and maintained by the utility company, and in the event of injury to any person or damage to any property by reason of the excavation, operation or maintenance of the utility, utility company shall indemnify and hold harmless, the Town of Lakeside from any and all liability in connection therewith.  The utility company shall repair, cleanup, and restore to the original or better condition all streets, alleys, public ways, and parkway-utility easements during the construction and repair of its system or immediately after completion of the construction or repair.
