§ 8.16.095 WATERCRAFT 36 FEET IN LENGTH–EXCEPTION.
   A.   No watercraft 36 feet in length or longer shall be operated within Bridgewater Channel during any period of time during which the Chief of Police, or his or her designee, has closed Bridgewater Channel to such vessels, pursuant to subsection C of this section.
   B.   The provisions of the preceding subsection shall not apply to any watercraft being operated by or under the direction of a master or pilot licensed in such capacity by the United States of America or any of the several states.
   C.   The Chief of Police, or his or her designee, shall close Bridgewater Channel to watercraft 36 feet or more in length whenever, in such officer’s determination, traffic, weather, wind and/or water conditions are such as to prevent the safe navigation to the watercraft in the channel. The closure shall be accomplished by posting appropriate signage at either end of the channel, stating that no watercraft 36 feet in length or longer may be operated within Bridgewater Channel.
   D.   Any peace officer of this state or of the United States may exercise the authority granted pursuant to §§ 8.16.040 and 8.16.050 of this code for the purpose of demanding an inspection of the master’s or pilot’s papers of any person operating a watercraft subject to the provisions of this section.
