(A) Pool piping shall be sized to permit the rated flows for filtering and cleaning, without exceeding the maximum head at which the pump will provide such flows.
(B) The water velocity in the pool piping shall not exceed ten feet per second for pressure pipe and six feet per second for suction pipe.
(C) The recirculating piping and fittings shall meet the following requirements.
(1) A main drain connected with two-inch pipe shall be placed at the deepest point in every swimming pool, whirlpool, spa, hot tub, therapy pool soaker and other similar structures.
(2) Pool recirculation piping shall be of corrosive resistant material capable of withstanding 100 p.s.i.
(3) Filter water inlet(s) shall be provided in sufficient quantity and properly spaced to provide a maximum circulation of the main body and surface of the pool water.
(4) (a) In every swimming pool, at least one skimming device shall be provided for each 500 square feet of surface area or fraction thereof.
(b) Skimming devices shall be built into the pool wall and shall develop sufficient velocity on the water surface to induce floating oils and waste into the skimmer from the total pool area.
(c) Piping and other parts of the skimming system shall be designed for a total capacity of at least 50% of the required filter flow of the recirculation system.
(d) Each skimmer shall be designed for a flow through rate of at least 30 gallons of water per minute.
(e) The skimmer water line shall be run separate and direct to related valve or pump equipment.
(f) An easily removable and cleanable basket or screen through which all overflow water must pass, shall be provided to trap solids.
(g) The skimmer weir shall be automatically self adjustable and shall operate freely with continuous action to variations and water levels over a range of not less than four inches.
(h) The skimmers shall meet National Sanitation Foundation Standards,
(5) (a) A two-inch hydrostatic relief valve and main drain shall be provided for pools over 800 square feet in area at the deepest point of the pool.
(b) The hydrostatic relief valve shall be of brass material only.
(c) The hydrostatic valve shall be installed per the manufacturers specifications or recognized standard installations.
(6) Swimming pool drainage shall be only through the recirculating system and shall discharge into the sanitary sewer system by means of an indirect waste.
(7) Swimming pool piping manifolds shall not be installed under the deck area or other inaccessible locations.
