No person related by blood or marriage up to the degree of first cousin to any elected official of the city shall be a member of the Board. Members shall be officers of the municipality and shall file an oath of office and a bond in a sum not less than that fixed from time to time by the Council of the city by resolution, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of the office. Members of the Board shall be subject to removal according to 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1 or any successor statute.
