The Director of Community Development or his or her designee, shall have the power to make, or cause to be made, at all reasonable hours, entry into any building or premises within the city where any work of construction, altering or repairing is in process, or where he or she has reason to believe that a violation of ordinances, rules or regulations relating to building, plumbing, drainage, sewers, sewage, electrical work or zoning exists, for the purpose of making inspections. He or she shall have the authority, in his or her discretion, to cause the turning off of any electrical switch or disconnect any electrical wire where the electrical currents transmitted thereby present a danger to life and property or may interfere with the work of the Fire Department. He or she shall have the authority, in his or her discretion, to cause the closing of any valve, or use such other means as may be necessary, to shut off the flow of oil, gas, gasoline or similar products where the continued flow of such products presents a danger to life and property or may interfere with the work of the Fire Department.
