2-2-6: FEES:
In the absence of any provision of this Village Code to the contrary, all fees and charges for licenses required pursuant to this chapter shall be paid at the time application therefor is submitted to the Village Clerk. When an applicant has not engaged in the business until after the expiration of part of the current license year, the fee for same shall be prorated by quarters and the fee paid for each quarter or fraction thereof except as otherwise provided by this chapter during which the business or occupation has been or will be conducted. Except as otherwise provided in this Village Code, all license fees shall be deposited in the General Corporate Fund of the Village. The annual business license fee shall be as specified from time to time in section 1-10-7 of this Village Code for each fiscal year; provided, however, that in the event an applicant for a business license fails to obtain a business license or fails to pay the required license fee for same before May 1 of each license year, or on or before sixty (60) days after establishing a new business or occupation within the Village, other than a home occupation, requiring a license within the Village, based upon the submission of reasonable evidence thereof to the Village Clerk, the applicant shall pay, in addition to said license fee, a late charge equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the license fee, as established by section 1-10-7 of this Village Code, at the time of obtaining said license, which late charge is necessary to cover the additional administrative costs of such late application. No license shall be issued or renewed under this Chapter unless the applicant is able to establish by written evidence acceptable to the Village Clerk that all past due license fees and penalties due and owing to the Village applicable to the applicant have been paid.
