(A) Village of La Grange Park firefighters will be trained in accordance with the Illinois Administrative Code, Title 41, Chapter 1, Part 141. Specifically, firefighters will be trained to the OSFM Basic Operations Firefighter level, and pass the State of Illinois test for certification to the Basic Operations level prior to completion of their probationary period.
(B) Furthermore, a probationary period of two years from the date of hire shall be established for La Grange Park firefighters. The probationary period may be reduced if Basic Operations Firefighter certification is obtained prior to the expiration of the probationary period, as long as all other Fire Department policies related to the probationary period have been satisfactorily complied with. The probationary period shall not be less than one year, with the exception of returning employees.
