§ 150.16 STOP WORK ORDERS.
   (A)   Authority. The Director of Fire and Building shall have the power to order all work stopped on construction, installation, alteration or repair of buildings and structures, and parts and appurtenances thereof, regulated by this chapter, when such work is being done in violation of any provision relating thereto, or in violation of the zoning provisions of this Code, or in an unsafe and dangerous manner. Work shall not be resumed after the issuance of a stop work order except on the written permission of the Director; provided, that if the stop work order is an oral one, it shall be followed by a written stop order within 24 hours. Such written stop work order may also be served by any police officer.
   (B)   Unlawful continuance. Any person who continues any work in violation of a stop work order, except such work as that person is directed to perform to remove a violation or unsafe condition, shall be liable to a fine of not less $75 or more than $750 per occurrence, per day.
