Full-time employees shall receive a paid sick leave allowance of one and one fourth days per month accumulating to a maximum of seven hundred twenty (720) hours. Employees hired prior to January 1, 1990 can accumulate sick leave to a maximum of nine hundred and sixty (960) hours. Sick leave may be utilized, with prior approval of the employee's immediate supervisor, for reasons of personal illness or bodily injury, pregnancy, exposure to contagious disease and for childbirth or other exigent circumstances surrounding the pregnancy of the Employee's spouse, or illness or bodily injury occurring in the employee's "Immediate Family" as defined in Section 151.08. Utilized sick leave shall be deducted from an employee's accumulated sick leave time in increments of not less than one-quarter (1/4) hour. In order to be paid for any sick leave in excess of two (2) consecutive days, the employee must present a statement, signed by a doctor licensed to practice medicine in the State of Ohio indicating the general nature and expected duration of the condition for which the employee is utilizing sick leave. In the event an employee shall request utilization of sick leave for illness or bodily injury occurring in the employee's Immediate Family as defined in Section 151.08, the Mayor may, in the Mayor's sole discretion, require the requesting employee to furnish such information, as may be satisfactory to the Mayor, to support the employee's request. Such information may include, but not be limited to, a signed statement of the treating physician indicating the general nature and expected duration of the condition for which the employee is requesting utilization of sick leave. A new employee shall receive no credit for sick leave accumulated in a position with an employer other than the Village of LaGrange. Any employee who retires shall be reimbursed for unused sick leave under the following schedule: more than ten (10)years but less than twenty (20) years' service shall be reimbursed for twenty-five percent (25%) of unused accumulated sick leave; more than twenty (20) years but less than 30 years' service shall be reimbursed for thirty-three percent (33%) of unused accumulated sick leave; and more than thirty (30) years' service shall be reimbursed for fifty percent (50%) of unused accumulated sick leave. Retirement constitutes any employee leaving employment and is drawing a pension.
