(A) Designation of routes. The streets in the city set forth in Chapter 72, Schedule II are hereby designated heavy traffic routes in the city.
(B) Certain vehicles required to use heavy traffic routes. The following vehicles, either drawn by horses or propelled by motor power, are required to use heavy traffic routes:
(1) Those having solid tires.
(2) Those carrying a weight of 6,000 pounds or more per axle.
(3) All tractors and heavy equipment.
(4) Those vehicles or vehicles/trailer/equipment with the collective gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 16,000 pounds or more.

(C) When deviations from heavy traffic routes are allowed. The requirement that certain vehicles use heavy traffic routes shall not prevent the use of such vehicles on other streets in the city for the purpose only of making delivery of goods to private customers or business places, or of carrying on such necessary local business that requires the use of such other streets, provided that in all such cases the shortest possible route shall be taken.

(D) Signs indicate heavy traffic routes. Appropriate signs at appropriate places in the city indicating heavy traffic routes as may be directed by the City Council from time to time by resolution enacted.
