2-9-1: PURPOSE AND INTENT:
There is established a mayor's youth council, hereinafter known as the "youth council" of the city to provide an opportunity for the youth of Knoxville to acquire a greater knowledge of and appreciation for their city government and their community leadership through active participation and involvement. Further, the youth council is established to help the mayor and city council accomplish the goals of the community by working directly with the representatives of the youth. The youth council shall also serve the youth of Knoxville by:
   A.   Informing the city council of the needs and wishes of the youth.
   B.   Planning and implementing social, educational, cultural and recreational activities for the youth.
   C.   Working with the mayor, city council, city administrators, Knoxville schools, and the chamber of commerce to provide service and leadership opportunities for the youth of Knoxville.
   D.   Instilling a feeling of positive self-worth and esteem.
   E.   Promoting a sense of civic involvement and community pride.
   F.   Learning various aspects of community leadership. (Ord. 10-02, 11-15-2010)
