For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ANIMAL. Any dog, cat or other domesticated animal.
ANIMAL SHELTER or MUNICIPAL ANIMAL SHELTER. The facility or facilities maintained by the county or agencies it may contract with, for the humane restraining and impounding of animals apprehended under the authority of this chapter.
ANIMAL WARDEN. The Board of Commissioners shall appoint a person to serve at the pleasure of the Board of Commissioners and for a salary to be set and approved by the County Council.
AT LARGE. The situation that exists when an animal is elsewhere than on the owner's premises and either;
(1) Not restrained by a leash; or
(2) Not under the immediate and complete control of a person capable of controlling the animal.
CAT. Any domestic member of the feline family of animals.
DOG. Any member of the canine family of animals.
EXPOSED TO RABIES. The situation which exists when an animal has been bitten by or otherwise has been in contact with any other animal known to bef or reasonably suspected of being, infected with rabies.
KENNEL. Any premises or place within the county upon or in which four or more animals over six months of age are bred, kept, harbored or maintained.
OWNER. Any person or persons owning or having the care, custody or control of any animal.
