(a) If it has been determined by the Zoning Inspector at the hearing that the station in question has been abandoned, the notice referred to in § 1440.05 shall contain an order that the owner or other person responsible shall abate such abandoned conditions within 60 days either by placing the station in operation in accordance with the Zoning Code, adapting and using the building for another permitted use or razing and demolishing the service station structure and removing the pumps and signs and any other advertising or promotional fixture and equipment.
(b) The underground storage tanks shall either be removed or filled with inert material under the supervision and direction of the Fire Chief. Depressions caused by the removal of any structure or tank shall be backfilled and rounded over sufficiently higher than the adjoining ground surface to allow for settlement to the grade level of the lot.
