§ 36.06 WHEN QUALIFIED; WHEN TO ASSUME OFFICE.
   (A)   Newly elected officers shall not be qualified until at least 48 hours after the closing of the polls.

   (B)   Newly elected officers shall assume office on the first day of January immediately following the election, unless said election is contested.
