§ 70.142 DESIGNATION AND MARKING OF CROSSWALKS AND SAFETY ZONES; MARKING AND USE OF TRAFFIC LANES.
   (A)   The Chief of Police may designate and maintain, by appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway, crosswalks where, in his or her opinion, there is particular danger to pedestrians crossing the roadway, and at the other places as he or she may deem necessary.
   (B)   The Chief of Police may establish safety zones of the kind and character and at the places as he or she may deem necessary for the protection of pedestrians.
   (C)   The Chief of Police may mark lanes for traffic on street pavements at the places as he or she may deem advisable, consistent with the traffic ordinances. Where the traffic lanes have been marked, it shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to fail or refuse to keep the vehicle within the boundaries of any lane except when lawfully passing another vehicle or preparatory to making a lawful turning movement.
