(A) A motor vehicle operated by a member of an organized Fire Department may be equipped with 2 flashing blue lights displayed to the front or 1 blue rotating beacon light to be visible 360 degrees. This division shall not relieve the driver of the vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the safety of all persons using the street, nor shall it protect the driver of any vehicle from the consequence of a reckless disregard of the safety of others.
(B) No firefighter shall be permitted to use any light as provided herein except while actually en route to the scene of a fire or other emergency requiring his or her services as a firefighter, and further that he or she shall have been authorized in writing to so use a blue light. The authorization shall be given by the Chief of the Fire Department that he or she is a member if in good standing.
