All those portions of streets running north and south, or having their principal directions north and south, lying north of First Streets, shall be designated by the word “North” prefixed to the name of such street. All portions of streets lying south of said First Streets shall be designated in like manner by the prefix “South.” All portions of streets running east and west, lying east of Main Streets, shall be designated by the word “East” prefixed to the name of such street. All portions of streets lying west of said Main Street shall be designated in like manner by the word “West” prefixed to the name of such street.
