Before entering upon the duties of his office the City Attorney shall take the oath prescribed by law for all city officers, and execute and deliver a bond payable to the city in the minimum penal sum of $1,000, with sureties to be approved by the City Council, conditioned upon the faithful performance of his duties as said City Attorney. He shall receive such salary or compensation as the Council may provide.
