The City Treasurer, before entering upon his duties, shall take and subscribe the oath or affirmation prescribed by the statutes of the state, and shall execute a bond with good and sufficient securities to be approved by the City Council, payable to the city, in the minimum penal sum of three times the most recent federal population census of the city, conditioned as provided for by law.
