The City Clerk, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall take and subscribe the oath or affirmation prescribed by the Constitution of the State, and shall execute a minimum bond with good and sufficient security to be approved by the City Council, payable to the city, in the penal sum of $50,000 conditioned as provided by law.
