§ 32.51 FIRE MARSHAL OFFICE CREATED.
   (A)   Position created. There is hereby created the Office of Fire Marshal, an administrative office of the village. The Chief of Police shall be the Fire Marshal unless some other person shall be appointed to the office by the Village Board of Trustees.
   (B)   Powers and duties. The Fire Marshal shall have the following powers and duties:
      (1)   Investigation of fires. The Fire Marshal shall investigate the nature, cause and extent of all fires in the village and keep a record thereof.
      (2)   Fire limits. The Fire Marshal or other officer in command at any fire may prescribe limits in the vicinity of any fire, within which no person except officers and persons who reside therein shall be admitted without permission from a duly authorized officer.
      (3)   Removal and protection of property. The Fire Marshal shall have the power to cause the removal of property whenever it shall become necessary for the preservation of property from fire, or to prevent the spreading of fire or to protect adjoining property.
      (4)   Deputy Building Inspector. The Fire Marshal shall be an ex officio Deputy Building Inspector, and as such it shall be his or her duty to make inspections and cooperate with the Building Commissioner and Inspectors in administering and enforcing the provisions of this code relating to fire inspections, fire prevention and public safety.
      (5)   Additional duties. The Fire Marshal shall enforce all ordinances relating to the occurrence or spread of fires, and shall have any other powers and perform any other duties as may be authorized or required by law, statute or ordinance.
