§ 32.37 CONSERVATORS OF THE PEACE.
   Upon the receipt of a certificate attesting to the successful completion of a training course administered by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board in accordance with the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/3.1-15-25), every member of the Police Department whose duty it is to enforce the penal ordinances of the village, are hereby declared to be conservators of the peace, with power to arrest or cause to be arrested, with or without process, all persons who shall break the peace, or be found violating any ordinance of the village or any criminal law of the state or of the United States of America, and to commit for examination, and if necessary, detain those persons in custody over night or Sunday or holidays, in the village jail or other safe place, until they can be brought before the proper court, and shall have and exercise all other powers as conservators of the peace as the corporate authorities may prescribe.
