§ 32.35 POWERS AND DUTIES OF MEMBERS.
   (A)   General duties. It shall be the duty of every member of the Police Department to preserve order, prevent infractions of the law, enforce all of the ordinances of the village and all of the statutes and laws effective in the village, and to arrest violators thereof.
   (B)   Serving warrants. Every member of the Police Department shall have the common law and statutory powers of constables for the purpose of serving warrants for the violation of village ordinances, and crimes and misdemeanors, to whomsoever directed, within the corporate limits of the village; provided, however, that all warrants shall be served under the direction and with the approval of the Chief of Police.
   (C)   Appearing as witnesses; fees. Every member of the Police Department, when called upon to do so, shall appear as a witness in any prosecution for violation of any village ordinance or criminal law and in civil cases involving the public interest as the Chief of Police may approve and direct. No member of the Police Department shall receive any witness fee for his or her services as a witness in any action or suit to which the village or the people of the state are a party, and any witness fee or expense money paid that member in other cases shall be turned over to the Chief of Police for deposit in the village treasury.
