Restoration of damaged buildings
Add new subsection: “Whenever any existing building is damaged by fire or other cause to the extent that the cost of restoration to its condition immediately prior to the occurrence shall exceed 50 percent of the cost of the restoration of the entire building new or whenever alterations or additions are made to any existing building which are equivalent to more than 50 percent of the value of such building, the construction or alteration shall include all changes necessary to bring the building into conformity with the Life Safety Code.”

Exit Doors
Delete first sentence and substitute: “Exit doors shall be installed to swing with exit travel, regardless of the number of persons served, except where the Fire Chief has determined that compliance is unreasonably difficult to accomplish, and that non-compliance does not pose a life safety hazard, and the following:”
