§ 30.72 DEPUTY VILLAGE CLERKS.
   (A)   The Village Clerk, with approval from the Village Board, may appoint one or more Deputy Village Clerks to assist in the performance of the duties of the Village Clerk. Deputy Village Clerks shall act under the supervision of the Village Clerk, and shall assist in the performance of the duties required of the Village Clerk by state statute and village ordinances. Deputy Village Clerks shall have the power and duty to execute all documents required by law to be executed by the Village Clerk, and affix the village seal thereto, wherever required, under the direction and with the approval of the Village Clerk.
   (B)   During the absence or disability of the Village Clerk, the Deputy Village Clerks shall have all the powers and duties of the Village Clerk and shall perform all functions thereof and such other duties as may be assigned to the Deputy Village Clerk.
   (C)   Deputy Village Clerks shall not be required to post a bond pursuant to § 30.06 of this code. The appointment of Deputy Village Clerks shall not relieve the elected Village Clerk of full responsibility for the fidelity of any Deputy Village Clerk or for the proper discharge of the Village Clerk’s duties.
