§ 70.32 POLICE TO DIRECT TRAFFIC; DIRECTING AT FIRE.
   (A)   Officers of the Police Department or other persons as are assigned by the Chief of Police are authorized to direct all traffic by voice, hand or signal in conformance with the provisions of this title or otherwise as public safety and convenience may require; provided, that in the event of a fire or other emergency or to expedite traffic or to safeguard pedestrians, officers of the Police Department may direct traffic as conditions may require notwithstanding the provisions of this title.
   (B)   Officers of the Fire Department or other emergency service personnel, when at the scene of a fire or other emergency, may direct or assist the police in directing traffic thereat or in the immediate vicinity.
   (C)   Except in case of emergency, it shall be unlawful for any person not authorized by law to direct or attempt to direct traffic.
