§ 11.03 VILLAGE DATUM.
   The base or datum for all grades hereafter fixed or provided for public improvements or other purposes within the village, shall be and is hereby established at the plane of low water mark of Lake Michigan, in the year 1847, as determined by the Trustees of the Illinois and Michigan Canal, and which plane is located 34.47 feet below the flattened top of a point of rock on the east side of the archway at the northeast corner of the Chicago and North Western Railway depot in the village, the point of rock being 2.95 feet below the top of the cut stone sill of the archway. All grades hereafter established shall have reference to the base or datum herein fixed.
