(A) Each officer or employee, occupying a full-time permanent position established by ordinances, whether or not serving under probationary or permanent employment or appointment, shall be entitled to the following holidays:
(1) The first day of January, known as New Year’s Day;
(2) The third Monday in January, known as Martin Luther King Day;
(3) The third Monday in February, known as President’s Day;
(4) The last Monday in May, known as Decoration or Memorial Day;
(5) The Fourth of July, known as Independence Day;
(6) The first Monday in September, known as Labor Day;
(7) The second Monday in October, known as Columbus Day;
(8) The eleventh of November, known as Veterans Day;
(9) The fourth Thursday in November, known as Thanksgiving Day;
(10) The twenty-fifth day of December, known as Christmas Day.
(B) Each permanent part-time employee will be entitled to holiday pay if they are required to work on the following holidays:
(1) New Years Day;
(2) July 4th;
(3) Thanksgiving; and
(4) Christmas Day.
(C) To be entitled to holiday pay, an employee must be on the active payroll (i.e., actually receives pay) on the last regular workday before and the first regular workday after the holiday.
(D) In the event any of the holidays in division (A) above shall fall on Saturday, the Friday immediately preceding shall be observed as the holiday. In the event any of the holidays shall fall on Sunday, the Monday succeeding shall be observed as the holiday.
(E) If an emergency occurs, and it necessary to have the employee work on a scheduled holiday, the employee shall be paid at a rate of one and one-half times the employee’s regular rate.
