§ 155.180 PERMITTED USES.
   The following principal uses hereby permitted:
   (A)   Any use or structure permitted and as regulated in the M-1 District, except as hereinafter modified;
   (B)   Automobile salvage and wrecking operations, and industrial metal and waste salvage operations and junk yards, if located not less than 100 feet from any R District, provided all operations are conducted within an area enclosed on all sides with a solid wall or tight board fence not less than eight feet high, and which fence or wall shall be maintained to the satisfaction of the Building Inspector;
   (C)   Flammable liquids storage, underground only, not to exceed a total of 25,000 gallons;
   (D)   Railroad yards;
   (E)   The following uses, provided no part of a building occupied by such uses shall have any opening, other than stationary windows or required fire exits, within 100 feet of any R District:
      (1)   Blacksmith, welding and other metal working or machine shop;
      (2)   Foundry, casting lightweight non-ferrous metals, or electric foundry not causing noxious fumes or odors; and
      (3)   Planning mill and veneer manufacturing.
   (F)   Any of the following uses, when located not less than 200 feet from any R District, and not less than 100 feet from any other district, except an M-1 District:
      (1)   Acetylene manufacturing in excess of 15 pounds pressure per square inch;
      (2)   Acid manufacture, except as specified as a conditional use in § 155.167;
      (3)   Asbestos manufacturing;
      (4)   Automobile, tractor, trailer, farm implement assembly of manufacturing;
      (5)   Bleaching, cleaning and dyeing plant;
      (6)   Boiler shops, machine shops, structural steel fabricating shops, railway car and locomotive shops, including repair, metal working shops;
      (7)   Brewing or distilling of liquors;
      (8)   Brick, pottery, tile and terra cotta manufacturing;
      (9)   Bulk station;
      (10)   Cans and other types of containers;
      (11)   Candle or sperm oil manufacturing;
      (12)   Cement products;
      (13)   Cooperage works;
      (14)   Dextrine, starch or glucose manufacturing;
      (15)   Disinfectant, insecticide or poison manufacturing;
      (16)   Dye and dyestuff manufacture;
      (17)   Enameling, lacquering or japanning;
      (18)   Emery cloth or sandpaper manufacturing;
      (19)   Felt manufacturing;
      (20)   Flour or grain mill;
      (21)   Forge or foundry works;
      (22)   Gas; generator or storage for illuminating or heating;
      (23)   Grain drying or poultry feed manufacturing, from refuse, mash or grain;
      (24)   Hair or hair products manufacturing;
      (25)   Lime or lime products manufacturing;
      (26)   Linoleum, oil cloth or oiled goods manufacturing;
      (27)   Machinery manufacturing;
      (28)   Match manufacturing;
      (29)   Meat packing; but not stockyards or slaughterhouses, specified as a conditional use in § 155.182;
      (30)   Metal stamping and extrusion;
      (31)   Oil, paint, shellac, turpentine, varnish or enamel manufacturing;
      (32)   Paper and pulp manufacturing;
      (33)   Perfume manufacturing;
      (34)   Pickle, sauerkraut or sausage manufacturing;
      (35)   Plaster manufacturing;
      (36)   Poultry slaughterhouse, including packing and storage for wholesale;
      (37)   Printing ink manufacturing;
      (38)   Radium extraction;
      (39)   Sandblasting or cutting;
      (40)   Sawmill, the manufacture or excelsior, wood fiber or sawdust products;
      (41)   Sewage disposal plant or incinerator or sanitary landfill operation except by the municipality;
      (42)   Shoddy manufacturing;
      (43)   Shoe blacking or polish or stove polish manufacturing;
      (44)   Soap manufacturing;
      (45)   Steam power plant, except where accessory to a permitted principal use;
      (46)   Stone and monument works employing power driven tools;
      (47)   Sugar refining;
      (48)   Tar or asphalt roofing or water-proofing manufacturing;
      (49)   Tar distillation or manufacturing;
      (50)   Vinegar manufacturing;
      (51)   Wire or rod drawing; nut, screw or bolt manufacturing;
      (52)   Yeast manufacturing; and
      (53)   Any other use which, in the opinion of the Board of Appeals, is of a similar character to those specified above.
   (G)   Any of the following uses when located not less than 400 feet from any R District, and not less than 200 feet from any other district except an M-1 District; or when authorized by the Board of Appeals as provided in §§ 155.255 through 155.260 subject to such conditions and requirements as may, in the opinion of the Board, be necessary to protect adjacent property and prevent conditions which may become noxious or offensive:
      (1)   Ammonia, chlorine or bleaching powder manufacture;
      (2)   Animal black, lamp black, bond black or graphite manufacture;
      (3)   Asphalt or asphalt products manufacture;
      (4)   Celluloid or proxyline manufacturing, or explosive or inflammable cellulose or proxyline products manufacturing or storage;
      (5)   Cement, lime, gypsum or plaster of Paris manufacture;
      (6)   Crematory;
      (7)   Creosote manufacture or treatment;
      (8)   Distillation of coal, petroleum, refuse, grain, wood or bones, except in the manufacture of gas;
      (9)   Explosives manufacture or storage except for small arms ammunition;
      (10)   Fertilizer, compost; manufacture or storage;
      (11)   Fish curing, smoking or packing, fish oil manufacture or refining;
      (12)   Petroleum or flammable liquids production, refining and storage above ground;
      (13)   Rock crushing;
      (14)   Rubber, caoutchouc or gutta-percha manufacture and treatment from crude or scrap material or the manufacture of balata;
      (15)   Smelting of ferrous or non-ferrous ores;
      (16)   Storage, curing or tanning of raw, green or salted hides or skins when refrigerated storage is provided;
      (17)   Sulphurous, sulphuric, nitric, picric, carbolic or hydrochloric or other corrosive acid manufacture; and
      (18)   Any other use which in the opinion of the Board of Appeals is of a similar character to those specified above.
