§ 34.120 CREATION OF POSITION.
   There is hereby created the position of Public Safety Director. The Public Safety Director shall be the head of the Police Department and Fire Department. Subject to the direction of the Mayor, the Public Safety Director shall supervise and administer all officers, members and employees, including, but not limited to, public safety officers, assigned to the Police Department and Fire Department through the Assistant Public Safety Director/Police Chief and the Assistant Public Safety Director/Fire Chief. The Assistant Public Safety Director/Police Chief and the Assistant Public Safety Director/Fire Chief shall supervise and be responsible for the day-to-day operations and activities of those officers, members and employees assigned to them, and they shall report to the Public Safety Director. In all respects, the Assistant Public Safety Director/Police Chief and the Assistant Public Safety Director/Fire Chief shall retain all traditional authority and control over the operations of the Police Department and Fire Department.
