12-1-6: STUDY OF AREA SURROUNDING PROPOSED SUBDIVISION:
Where a tract of land is proposed for subdivision that is part of a larger, logical subdivision unit in relation to the city as a whole, whether owned by the subdivider or an adjacent third party, the planning and zoning board may, before approval of a plat presented to it, cause to be prepared by the city engineer a possible plan of the entire area, which plan shall be used by the planning and zoning board and the city council as an aid in judging the proposed plat. The city engineer shall cooperate with the planning and zoning board in the preparation of the area plat and shall furnish such surveys and data as may be deemed necessary.
